Edmund wer? Das habt Ihr Euch vielleicht bei der Überschrift gefragt. Edmund Ooi! Fangen wir aber vorne an. Aktuell stecke ich mitten in den Vorbereitungen zur Milano Moda Uomo, die nächste Woche startet, und freue mich schon wie ein Flitzebogen! Getreu dem Motto: „Öfter mal was Neues“, geht es dieses Mal mit dem Zug Richtung Süden (und hoffentlich auch wieder zurück) – wird bestimmt toll! Und dann endlich wieder italienische Kaffeekultur, leckeres Essen (Muscheln!) und natürlich vor allem Mode ohne Ende.
Zurück zu Edmund Ooi. Der Designer stammt aus Malaysia, wo er Modedesign und Marketing studiert hat, und lebt aktuell in Belgien. Bereits mit 19 gewann er den „Most Promising Designer Award“ und den „Best Avant-garde designer“ für seine erste Kollektion beim Malaysia International Fashion Award (MIFA). Seine Designs bestehen aus klassischer Herrenmode kombiniert mit futuristischen Elementen, geometrischen Schnitten und hochwertigen Materialien.
Was hat Edmund Ooi nun mit Milano zu tun? Nun, wie bereits hier erwähnt, unterstützt Giorgio Armani seit einiger Zeit junge Talente, die im Lauf der Milano Moda Uomo ihre neue Kollektion im “Armani Teatro” präsentieren können. Das letzte Mal war es Angelos Bratis, dieses Mal ist Edmund Ooi an der Reihe.
Und auch er freut sich wie ein Flitzebogen, wie das Zitat zeigt: „I am greatly honored to have been chosen by Giorgio Armani to present my collection with a fashion show at his beautiful Armani/Teatro. There are no words to describe the feeling and the gratitude for a young designer to have the opportunity to show the world your work and what you believe in”.
Am 17. Januar um 11:30 Uhr ist es soweit, dann lässt Edmund seine Models über den Laufsteg laufen. Und wir lassen uns natürlich gern von der neuen Kollektion überraschen!
Milan Fashion Week is just around the corner and actually my preparations are in full swing. I am so happy to be back in Milano in a few days and I am looking forward to great coffee and delicious food – and of course especially to a lot of beautiful fashion!
In this context I have to tell you about Edmund Ooi. Edmund who? – you might have asked yourself. Well, Edmund Ooi is a name to keep in mind! He is a Malaysian designer based in Belgium. After his degree in marketing, fashion design and tailoring, he won the ‚Most Promising Designer Award‘ and ‚Best Avant-garde designer‘, at the Malaysia International Fashion Award (MIFA), for his first collection with nineteen years old. His creations are menswear classic combined with futuristic elements and high quality materials.
This season Edmund Ooi is chosen by Giorgio Armani to present his new collection at the ‘Armani Teatro’ during the Milano Moda Uomo. Giorgio Armani supports young talents, last season it was Angelos Bratis, now Edmund Ooi will show his collection on January 17th at 11.30 AM.
